Men  play a significant role in society more especially if you're a Carob Man... What is a Carob Man? A Carob Man is a man who is inspired, a leader and most importantly a man who's actions inspire others to do their best.

Carob looks at the most influential men in radio around Africa.

DJ Neptune (Nigeria)

Born Imohosein Patrick popularly known as DJ Neptune, Neptune grew  up in Lagos where he was exposed to music from an early age. He started entertaining friends and neighbors at the age of 10 then quickly developed interest in becoming a professional DJ  even before he left high school.

On Weekends he started spinning at school parties, fast food eateries, nightclubs, and house parties 


His first radio job as a professional DJ came in 2001 when he was hired by Nigeria's first private radio station, 'Ray Power 100.5 FM in Lagos. He worked as an in house DJ from 2001 till 2004.


During this time Neptune was able to keep the listeners glued to their radio sets and in a short period of time he became a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry. In 2008, Nigerian rapper Naeto C signed DJ Neptune as his official Disc Jockey/ Hype man and together the duo created a new face to Nigerian Hip-Hop/ Nigerian DJ’s in Africa.


As part of plans to expand the brand and put a face to the name, Neptune released series of promotional Mix tapes on-line for free downloads. He then went ahead to start production on his own DJ Album, and have ever since been a favorite.



Mo flava (South Africa)



 DJ  Mo Flava (Moeti Tsiki) was born on the 2nd of July 1984 in Dube Soweto. Mo Flava holds a diploma in Radio broadcasting and programming and Journalism from Boston Media House.

He is focused, ambitious and driven by an intense interest and passion for the media Industry at large. 


Mo’s interest in radio stems from the medium’s ability to relate to different people in a very personal and interactive manner.


He views radio as one of the main drivers not only of information but also of popular culture and perception.


Mo Flava was the host of a popular YFM afternoon drive show called 'The Freeway' it aired from Mon-Fri 15:00-19:00 pm


In April 2015, Mo Flava started his brand new morning show called “The Morning Fix” on a South African national radio station Metro FM. He co-hosts the show with Sammy Sosa. The show airs every Mon-Fri from 8 am till 10 am.
Mo Flava was also the host of a popular music show called Club 808 on Etv, airing every Fridays at 7:30 pm. He has been presenting the show since it started in 2010 till February 2015.



Even though he is popularly known for is TV work, IK started his career in radio with a job on Rhythm 93.7 in 2001.


Before Big Brother Africa he was a presenter for several shows on MNET such as Studio 53, Temptation Nigeria and Comedy Club Live in Lagos.


MNet conducted auditions all over Africa in search of the perfect host for the most popular reality show in all of Africa “Big Brother Africa”. After massive auditions all over Africa, IK Osakioduwa emerged as the best host for the show. People can’t help but agree that he made the show his own.


Big Brother Africa also returned in 2010 and 2011, both hosted by IK. He has hosted a total of 3 out of the 6 editions of the show that have aired. A record no one has topped. Fact is, IK Osakioduwa has achieved continental acclaim as one of Africa’s finest presenters.


Thabo Molefe (Tbo Touch)


Tbo Touch is a South African hip-hop DJ and television presenter best known for presenting the radio shows 'Pimp my Fridays' and 'Rhyme and Reason' on Metro FM. He is also a presenter of a variety music show 'Live' on SABC1.


T BO was born in Thokoza but later moved to the Vaal where he stayed until he was eight years old. Whilst in the Vaal, he attended Kgomotso Primary School until grade 2. His family then moved back to Johannesburg where he continued his studies at Oliver Lodge Primary School. 


He spent most of his high school years at General Smuts High School but in grade 10 he moved to New York. He concluded his schooling at Bishop Grimes High in East Syracuse, NYU. He also attended NYU and completed his marketing at Bond University. 

While in New York, Tbo Touch served as intern at Def Jam records where he headed the street team. He pushed promotions for big names such as Foxy Brown and Red Man. He has achieved so much in his career and businesses making him one of the most celebrated personalities in South Africa.

Bola Ray ( Nathan Kwabena Adisi) Ghana

Popularly known as the Ghanaian media mogul, Bola Ray started his career as a radio DJ  at Top Radio and then left for Joy FM to host the Drive Time for 11 years.


The show was a huge success, he then shifted camps to Starr F where he is also a co-owner and CEO. Throughout his career in radio, he's won multiple awards making him one of Ghana's most celebrated media personalities.


Bola Ray is the CEO of Empire Entertainment and EIB Networks, he also  owns GHOne TV, Empire FM, Starr FM, Live FM, Hi FM, Cool FM, Agoo FM etc.
